So for all you that have a blogspot..go to your dashboard and click on "stats" and check em out. You can find out what people google'd in order to stumble upon your page..
In my case, I was pleased (and slightly tickled) to find that people who had stumbled onto my page had googled the following:
- "Hippity hoppety Easter's on it's way!"
- "If you dont mind then I dont mind -The Killers"
- "I always can find you again"
- "I had the best day with you today"
- "dont wake me I plan on sleeping in"
- "shes got you high and you dont even know yet"
Apparently,
I talk about really cool music...and Easter (??)
Thats good to know :)
go check your stats!! Its fun!!

These are a Few of my Favorite Things: Cinco De Mayo edition
First, Let me just say, I totally forgot about the music player on my page, and that I had my volume turned all the way up...and I think I just peed on myself..
that scared me to death!!
Happy Cincer der Mayer ya'll!!!
But really, it's a happy day! Mexico defeated the French, and I became Mrs. Shirey 2 months ago today!! Thankfully it's much prettier today than it was that day ;)
This one time, on a road trip with my family (note to self: 25 hours driving across Texas with 5 people is not fun at the time, but I wouldn't trade the memories for anything)we stopped in El Paso for the night, and the next morning we set out to drive across the border of Mexico, just to say we had. Well, we got there, realize it looked a bit scary and slummish...so we all decided being 2 feet from Mexico was enough for us, and continued on our merry (or not so merry) way to Arizona.
What do I love about Mexican pieces of culture that have made their way to the good ol' US of A?
1.) CHIPS, SALSA, AND QUESO.
If I could eat them every single day, with every single meal, I really might. ESPECIALLY if the queso is from El Chile Verde..(OMG)
2.)PINATAS!
Pretty much every birthday party I ever had as a child had a pinata included in it. It was a must. What is better than something you get to beat up with a baseball bat and spills candy out all over the place??? NOT MUCH, PEOPLE!!
And this pinata just looks like too much fun!!
3.) MARIACHI BANDS!!
You can't tell me mariachi isn't fun. I just cant help but stop and smile when i see, hear one! Granted, I've only seen two, and probably neither were authentic, seeing how one was in San Antonio's Riverwalk, and the other was in Epcot's Mexico exhibit at Walt Disney World...but regardless..the music is just so fun! And who doesn't love watching little men with mustaches and sombreros playing trumpets and stringed instruments..cause i sure do!
4.) Soccer (Futbol). I'm fairly new to the sport of soccer (as said here in America, but frankly futbol makes more sense); I had just gotten into it a few months before the World Cup last year...but I think it's awesome! What a sport, folks! This is perhaps the most popular sport in Mexico (don't quote me on that, I'm just going with what I've heard), and I'm happy to see it gaining a tiny bit more popularity in the U.S.!
Though Mexico was not the team I was pulling for in the World Cup, they're still cool for playing soccer!
That's just 4 of my favorite "Mexican" things!!
Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Settling In.
Next week, my husband and I will have been married 2 months..and a great 2 months it has been! But I am just NOW starting to feel settled in! I won't lie - for a week or 2- home didn't feel like anywhere. Like, my parent's home felt half-way like home, and our own home felt half-way like home. And I'll admit, that feeling wasn't pleasant. But I came to assume many newly married ( particularly young and family oriented) brides experience this..and that i'd get over it. And get over it I did!
I still adore going to my parents house to visit them and my siblings, but the house (aluminum condo, rather) Ty and I live in has become home.
With our settling in, our puppy has begun to settle in as well. I think we may finally have her house broken (thank GOD!)and she's beginning to come out of her shell (we got her from the pound, and she'd been dropped off with her brother at 8 months old...she was VERY skittish when we got her, she must have been harshly treated). She's so funny and LOVES to chase bugs.
Still open to finding her a home with a yard and children, but if we can't, I think we'll be ok.
Little Miss Avey posin' it up!
Life's good here at the Shirey's. We've had some unexpected bumps: car wrecks, $70 shrimp, and doubled electricity bills...but it's all good. We love our life :)

Rainy Day.
It's pouring rain here in the good ol' West Monroe, Louisiana. An unexpected shower, as well. It really wasn't even supposed to rain today! But with the rain, I had to leave my poor baby, Avey, in her kennel inside all day. Normally, all the wonderfully knowledgeable animal owners would tell me that she's just gonna have to learn to be ok with that and blah blah blah...but in my opinion, kenneled up is just no way for a dog to live. At least not a dog this big, with a kennel this small.
It wouldn't be an issue, i wouldn't feel bad, if her kennel was big enough for her to stand all the way up in..but it's not. Therefore, she only sleeps in it.
She normally spends the day outside playing and chewing things (EX: my front deck, her leash, the neighborhood kids' toys, etc). So I feel bad today..sitting at work until 4...with her locked up in the tiny kennel all alone all day long.
Wow that was boring.
I apologize. I'm just not even in the mood to blog today..I have so much on my mind, but I just don't feel like typing some really deep sermon today..
I really just want to go back to bed!!

New Name, New Posts, Same Great..err..Taste?
I've changed my blog name up for hopefully the last time!! Obviously I couldn't stay "Soon to be Shirey" forever...considering now I AM a Shirey! Which is cool..and I'm still getting used to it.
Being a wife..I feel like I was literally reborn or something the day I got married..Like..life is different from what I've previously known for 19 years, and everyday I'm learning something new..like a baby. But I kind of like it... :)
I've been keeping an actual journal to help me get my thoughts out, and to help me track things that I've learned so far.
The first lesson I've learned: Do not call your husband (or anyone for that matter) ignorant to his (their) face. Just don't, no matter how bad you want to, and no matter how ignorant they really are being. It's rude, and just because they're being rude..doesn't mean you have to be. Also, it usually results in the other person being very angry (which may or may not include someone sleeping on the couch). So friends, if you ever get the urge to call someone ignorant...stop..drop...and roll. Not really. But for real, just don't do it. Bite your tongue, and save it for your journal.
I'm sorry, dear :)

Think Happy Thoughts...decor edition.
Thinking happy thoughts is what I'm trying to do, seeing as how I just got 2 big clumps of bad news today regarding the wedding..
But I know worrying, crying, dreading, and even hoping won't change anything.
Only prayer will. I truly believe prayer changes things. I know it does.
I'm declaring His promise is YES and AMEN!!
(Can I get a witness?? Woop woop!! hahaha....)
So, taking my thoughts to a more fun place...they have rested upon the subject of what I will do for a headboard for mine and the mister's bed. Our room came with a built in spot for the bed, complete with drawers underneath (kind of like a captains bed). There fore, a head board would be difficult to get in there..
Sooooo...here are some awesome ideas I may use!!
This one is my all time favorite. It even matches the colors of our room! I love love love this idea!
The asian chic side of me loves this one..looks more like it would go in my current room, but I stil love the idea!!
THIS one is absolutely gorgeous to me. I love love love the shutters, but set at different heights just makes them so much neater!! I seriously am in love with this look.
This idea may be the easiest, but certainly not any less cute, in my opinion. If I can't find any shutters for a reasonable price, or just decide I'm way too tired of DIY projects involving painting right now..I'll use this idea!
Any other cute headboard ideas?? I'm welcome to any suggestions I can get!

Coming next Saturday, to a Vineyard Near You (if you live in north lousiana)
Emily Wheat, will become Emily Shirey!
I'm totally freaking out right now. If you ask me if I'm anxious or anything, and I tell you no..I'm lying. But don't get mad at me...I seriously can hardly tell up from down right now I'm so busy. Seriously.
If you're upset at me right now for not getting back to you on something, or not talking much, or not spilling every detail of my wedding to you in depth when you ask..I am so sorry..but I have a wedding ( and a trailer)to pull together by next Saturday..
so there.
haha.
That wasn't too mean was it??
Let me just say what I'm looking forward too SO much:
HONEYMOON!!
Aside from just being awesome anyway, it will be filled with all the things I love!
My new husband, the beach, Lamberts Cafe, cheesy souvenir stores, Gulf Coast Zoo, and seeing Hillsong United live!!!
