Day Dreams..

I don't think I'm quite in the nesting phase yet, but as of lately I've really been excited (for lack of a better word) to get my apartment in order.
Ty and I moved into our current adorable, 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment in late October...and...we're sort of procrastinators.

Actually, we are the result of when the world's 2 biggest procrastinators get married. I'm a little scared for our child..
But anyway, we are procrastinators, and have had boxes still standing in certain rooms of our home for months now. Last week, I FINALLY got up the courage (and want to) to completely "move into" our room. Now everything is in its proper place, and looks fantastic. Complete with a brand new Scentsy pot and Camu Camu scent :)

This explained, we rearranged the furniture in the living room, and added a big chair. We also just got a washer and dryer. Therefore, my next (and last) big project that I am chomping at the bits to get to is Liam's room. His room has been our junk or random room..and now im thinking im just gonna go in and throw most of it out because obviously we have no room for it anyway!

As for Liam's actual room decor...I cannot WAIT to get it together!!

I wanted to go with something more gender neutral for the bedding and not so busy, so I can decorate his room however I please. I plan on using lots of different animals!

Now I should probably go rework our budget..i'm gonna need some more money for all this!

Where'd you Go? I Miss You So...(dear, sleep)

Today is my first day back to school after the Holidays...so that's blahhh...

My biggest annoyance lately (I think I have a new pregnancy related annoyance every day, really) is my lack of SLEEP.
What is keeping me from sleep you ask?
- I have no idea
- I have no idea
- I have NO idea

And that is what makes it most frustrating! I can't fix it because there is practically nothing (besides just being 22 weeks pregnant) that is causing it!
I have never been one to have sleep issues, even now I fall right to sleep when I lay down (or lay down the iPhone...); I'm realizing just how terribly inconvenient and annoying sleep issued really are! If you are naturally a bad sleeper..I am so sorry! I now know your pain!

Might I mention though- we I do sleep, I have the worlds most insane dreams EVER.
Also, I sleep the very best between the hours of 8 am - 12 pm.
I'm lucky to be able to only be in an actual classroom 2 days a week, so this incredibly slothful sleeping habit can continue on..at first it bothered me..but now I tell my better judgement to shove it because I need this darn sleep.
...I can complain about being uncomfortable the rest of my waking hours.

Also- my belly is becoming obvious now...and I'm starting to get lots of judgmental stares...so that's really fun...

B-ham and Blue Jeans

In a few hours, Ty, myself, and a drummer friend will be heading to Birmingham, Alabama - my favorite Southern city I've ever visited. Ty is leading worship at the church of some friends of ours for a New Years Eve worship night.
I'm hoping to find some fun things to do around the city in exchange for my having to sit through band rehearsals that I'm not even a part of!

This is my first road trip being pregnant, and even though im not even quite into my 3rd trimester, I'm almost always uncomfortable now. I'm a little concerned about being totally miserable on the way there. I have to dress presentably because when we get there We'll be meeting up with our friends. Which means...dun dun dun...the dreaded JEANS.

Jeans are my worst enemy right now. I hate jeans.
Why you ask?
- they're tight!
- they put pressure on my baby bump!
- i only have ONE pair of maternity jeans, meaning..BUTTONS.
- they just suck.

I was always more of a shorts fan anyway, and now with my growing belly, I'm WAY more of a shorts fan. I'm so ready for spring.

I think i'll like looking back at these posts after Liam is finally here. Im not sure if i'll laugh at myself, or cry because i wish i still had time to be such a whiner...but seriously..I don't know how moms that already have kids handle this...you're in my prayers!

Back in Black! - Well, just back. No black to be seen here.-

Since I've last stopped in here, a lot has changed on Blogspot..and I like what i see! It was May 2011, when I last posted. I was 19, not even thinking about having kids, just finishing up my sophomore year in college, and had been married for just at 3 months.


It's amazing how my life has changed so quickly...it is now December 29,2011 - only 3 days short of 2012.
I am now
- 20 years old
- a little over 5 months pregnant with our first child, Liam Tyler
- in my second quarter of my Junior year in college
- and have been married 10 months (that's almost a whole year!!! woo!)


I have decided to pick this blog back up, yet again, for however long I feel the need to. I am doing this for me, because being 20, a newlywed, college student, and pregnant are just a little overwhelming! Maybe others could do this with ease..but personally..i dont know how someone that only has to sit on the couch and eat cheetos every single day could do pregnancy with ease.
And why yes, i could just write all my thoughts down in a journal, i dont care if people see my real thoughts (maybe someone may need to feel like theyre not alone?), and I am a part of this ever evolving technologic generation and just feel good about myself when I type something out online, and it's not something to do with school.


I had a whole 'nother post in mind for just now, but then i realized my brain was forcing me to type out a written explanation of what I was even doing back here, and why I left! Now that that is over with, here I am - back in the blogosphere!

These are a Few of my Favorite Things: Cinco De Mayo edition

First, Let me just say, I totally forgot about the music player on my page, and that I had my volume turned all the way up...and I think I just peed on myself..
that scared me to death!!

But really, it's a happy day! Mexico defeated the French, and I became Mrs. Shirey 2 months ago today!! Thankfully it's much prettier today than it was that day ;)

This one time, on a road trip with my family (note to self: 25 hours driving across Texas with 5 people is not fun at the time, but I wouldn't trade the memories for anything)we stopped in El Paso for the night, and the next morning we set out to drive across the border of Mexico, just to say we had. Well, we got there, realize it looked a bit scary and slummish...so we all decided being 2 feet from Mexico was enough for us, and continued on our merry (or not so merry) way to Arizona.

What do I love about Mexican pieces of culture that have made their way to the good ol' US of A?

1.) CHIPS, SALSA, AND QUESO.
If I could eat them every single day, with every single meal, I really might. ESPECIALLY if the queso is from El Chile Verde..(OMG)

2.)PINATAS!
Pretty much every birthday party I ever had as a child had a pinata included in it. It was a must. What is better than something you get to beat up with a baseball bat and spills candy out all over the place??? NOT MUCH, PEOPLE!!
And this pinata just looks like too much fun!!

3.) MARIACHI BANDS!!
You can't tell me mariachi isn't fun. I just cant help but stop and smile when i see, hear one! Granted, I've only seen two, and probably neither were authentic, seeing how one was in San Antonio's Riverwalk, and the other was in Epcot's Mexico exhibit at Walt Disney World...but regardless..the music is just so fun! And who doesn't love watching little men with mustaches and sombreros playing trumpets and stringed instruments..cause i sure do!

4.) Soccer (Futbol). I'm fairly new to the sport of soccer (as said here in America, but frankly futbol makes more sense); I had just gotten into it a few months before the World Cup last year...but I think it's awesome! What a sport, folks! This is perhaps the most popular sport in Mexico (don't quote me on that, I'm just going with what I've heard), and I'm happy to see it gaining a tiny bit more popularity in the U.S.!
Though Mexico was not the team I was pulling for in the World Cup, they're still cool for playing soccer!

Settling In.

Next week, my husband and I will have been married 2 months..and a great 2 months it has been! But I am just NOW starting to feel settled in! I won't lie - for a week or 2- home didn't feel like anywhere. Like, my parent's home felt half-way like home, and our own home felt half-way like home. And I'll admit, that feeling wasn't pleasant. But I came to assume many newly married ( particularly young and family oriented) brides experience this..and that i'd get over it. And get over it I did!
I still adore going to my parents house to visit them and my siblings, but the house (aluminum condo, rather) Ty and I live in has become home.

With our settling in, our puppy has begun to settle in as well. I think we may finally have her house broken (thank GOD!)and she's beginning to come out of her shell (we got her from the pound, and she'd been dropped off with her brother at 8 months old...she was VERY skittish when we got her, she must have been harshly treated). She's so funny and LOVES to chase bugs.
Still open to finding her a home with a yard and children, but if we can't, I think we'll be ok.

Life's good here at the Shirey's. We've had some unexpected bumps: car wrecks, $70 shrimp, and doubled electricity bills...but it's all good. We love our life :)
